South Street Burger Toronto Canada

Recently we were informed that our Jakarta smooth reclaimed wood tabletops were used in an award-winning retail environment designed by Jump Branding & Design of Toronto.

Jump won an “Innovation in Energy” award from the Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.) for its design of a South Street Burger restaurant at the Shops at Don Mills in Toronto. According to South Street: “The principle sustainable goals for the creation of the Don Mills location included: reducing energy consumption, reducing waste water, reducing CO2 emissions and using green practices in material selections.”

In addition to reclaimed wood paneling, the restaurant incorporates green elements throughout, including solar-generated electricity and hot water; LED lighting; a heat-exchange hood system; air-cooled ice machines and high-efficiency fryers.  The award will be presented to South Street and Jump during the A.R.E. Design Awards ceremony at Globalshop 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 28.

South Street Burger previously won the annual “Green Leadership” award from Food service and Hospitality Magazine.

South Street is a progressive, premium-quality fast-food chain with stores throughout Ontario and Alberta.  Viridian Reclaimed Wood products have been used in several other South Street locations.

South Street Burger and Jump Branding & Design’s commitment to sustainability and forward-thinking design is directly in line with Viridian’s core values, and we’re extremely proud to be part of this award-winning project.
