Passion Fish Restaurant Bethesda Maryland

At Passion Fish restaurant in Bethesda Maryland, Viridians Good Neighbor reclaimed wood paneling was used in conjunction with 9wood’s ceiling system to create a strong visual element above the bar and tie into our concept of “a day at the bay”.  We also used the paneling as wall cladding in other parts of the restaurant to add warmth with a balance of rustic and refined.

PassionFish Bethesda Project Description:

With the success of the PassionFish restaurant in Reston, the Passion Food Hospitality Group decided to partner with Gensler again to create a new 9,000 square ft. contemporary seafood concept restaurant. Located in a prime location in Bethesda, the restaurant is the corner anchor of a new development allowing for great patio dining and high visibility in the area. The restaurant follows the nautical theme of the original Passion Fish Reston, but with a more casual feel to reflect the Bethesda community’s atmosphere and vibe. Together, Passion Food Hospitality and Gensler created a wonderful solution for fine dining that exemplifies the main design concept, “a day at the bay.”

Gensler designers focused on creating a strong first impression of the space from the moment you step foot in the space. The initial vista has been set-up to see through the main space to a customized metal fish sculpture installation strategically located at the back of the bar area. As you continue to move through the restaurant, your vista is framed by the entry lounge along with glass enclosed wine racks and a large bar at the center of the space. The entire corner of the bar seating area completely transforms with folding glass doors that open to the patio and street life beyond. There are also many different zones within the restaurant that offer a variety of experiences varying from an open casual area, small intimate rooms, a private dining area to an energetic bar with open walls to see the kitchen in action.

Overall, the space has the keen balance of raw and refined, mixing reclaimed wood elements with more refined finishes to create a casual elegance.
